We're seeking a talented and motivated Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role offers a unique blend of challenges and rewards, allowing you to make a significant impact on our business.

 

What you'll do

As a Financial Accountant at Spotlight Retail Group, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving Month-End Close: Overseeing the timely and efficient completion of month-end close processes.
  • Maintaining Financial Integrity: Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the chart of accounts and trial balance through the preparation of monthly and ad-hoc general journals.
  • Reconciling Financial Positions: Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Delivering Financial Insights: Preparing insightful month-end close reports to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborating with Auditors: Liaising with external auditors to facilitate smooth audits and ensure compliance.
  • Driving Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes and increase efficiency.
  • Supporting Strategic Initiatives: Contributing to ad-hoc projects and initiatives that support the company's growth and financial goals.

 

What you'll bring

  • Must have strong financial accounting knowledge, including month-end close with at least 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (SAP preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for retail
  • Training within an Audit role (Big 4 or Mid-Tier) will be favourable but not essential
  • Team orientated and with willingness to initiate continuous improvement
  • Proactive and capable of investigating anomalies as they arise
